This engine does not respond to controller. Here's what's (not) happening.
1. track turned on - 18V
2. Address engine #85
3. Engine diesel motor sounds come on.
4. No response to any commands from hand held controller.
I looked on the Lionel support page for this engine. The part that I would have started with was the receiver - The listing says it's "not available" Does anyone know how I can get this engine running? I wanted to swap out the receiver, but I don't know where to get the part.

Do the Cab lights and engine sounds come on when you apply 18V of track power, before you enter #85 to address the engine?
If yes, then it is not seeing the command signal and will not respond to commands. Try setting it up right at your track lock-on (where the command signal should be strong) then apply 18V of track power, only the Number Board lights should come on and no sounds. If, that happens and then you enter the ID (#85) and the power on command then you should hear the engine sounds and the Cab lights come on, then it should respond to commands.

You probably already checked these but I will mention them:
1. Make sure the Run/Prog switch is in run.
2. Make sure the train brake is off.
3. Try reprogramming it as engine # 85. Don’t forget to hit set you will hear the horn blow, turn off power put the Run/Prog switch in Run
