lionel switch controler and tortise machines

I’m sure you can. I wire the Z1000 thru the original ACS for command and also use the supplied push button as a signal and ability to switch via the push button. 

If you used them on your previous HO layout, then you are aware that they do not operate when energized with a momentary pulse. They are stall motors, and require a steady supply of DC in the polarity that will push them in the direction you select with toggle switches that stay energized.

Lionel controllers send a momentary signal. They will work with track switches that require a single pulse to operate a solenoid-type switch machine.

As noted, Tortoises require a constant DC voltage as they are stall motors.  Tortoise switch machines will work with an ASC controller if the ASC is programmed into continuous mode.  This is how I have wired my layout.  They will not work with Lionel lever-type controllers or push buttons as they are momentary switches.

While you could wire a DPDT toggle switch as a reversing switch between the ASC and the Tortoise, neither the toggle switch nor the legacy controller would accurately reflect the direction that you are throwing the turnout.

that's what i thought about them getting out of corespondents. the newest switch controler shows wiring them up with two diodes and setting it for constant output. Lionel is also coming out with a new version for the DZ-2500 supposedly in July. I may wait a bit until these or the manual is posted for them and see what the posabilitys  are , it looks like it just takes the place of the button so i might be able to use both.
