I have 2 separate tracks, wired to a ZW, running one 1953 loco and on second track 1999 GG1 with TMCC optional. I would like to get the TMCC controller for the GG1 as it has many sound features I am not using. My question is if the U connection on the TMCC controller is attached to the U connector on the ZW does the signal being sent from the controller go through to the other track I am running the old conventional way? Does this have any effect on the conventional train? Will it work?

The TMCC signal will go anywhere there is a common outside rail. It will have no effect on any conventional or DCS locomotive running on the tracks.
The Non TMCC locomotive will not be affected by the presence of a TMCC signal. It is like your TV does not even recognize the radio signals for commercial radio stations, they are present, but unrecognized by the television.
Yes the signal will go to both tracks, no it does not have any effect on the conventional train, Yes it will work just fine.

Thanks Guys. Next question is: There is a Lionel Train Master Command Control System and then there is a Legacy Cab-1 Control system. Would both work and is one better then the other. The train is a Lionel GG1 #18343 .
Both systems will work with what you have. If you ever purchase newer Legacy engines they will both work with that as well, BUT, the Legacy system will allow you to access all the features of the engine whereas the TMCC will not.
I upgraded to Legacy and never looked back. Good Luck!!
