Quick question. When placing the AMC, OTC and other Lionel controllers around the layout, away from the location of the Command Base, is there some power "Booster" that should be placed in line on the Data/Com and/or the A/U wiring? I realize that Dale M has a power booster for the Legacy/TMCC connection, but does this aid in controllers some 15' away from the command base?

Your cab 1 should work within 30-40 feet of the com base as long as the batteries are fresh.
Weak batteries will affect signal strength.

For the TMCC command base, you can put quite a few controllers on the serial link without overtaxing it, it has much more drive than the Legacy command base. I'd consider using low-capacitance wire for the serial runs if they're any significant distance from the command base.
