Lionel Trackmobile Question

I can't answer the question regarding the specific switches that you mention. But I have 36", 48" and 72" FasTrack switches on my layout, and my Trackmobile has absolutely no problems with any of them. 

My trackmobile will go through a Ross #4 switch. It will also go through Atlas #5, but not an Atlas curved switch. It also works fine on all my 036, 045, 054 & 072 Atlas switches as well.

Nicole: Thanks for the reply - I did expect (hoped) that there would be no problem with the Fastrack switches. Thanks for confirming this for me and maybe others who are interested.

Jim: Good to hear that the Trackmobile works with your Ross #4s. I have several Ross #4s as well as a yard set that includes a wye and a series of Ross "regular switches".

I now hope to hear from someone using Super Snap 072 switches with good news as well!

The only Atlas switches (except for the ones that have broken wires) I have issues with are the curved switches, and those give other engines fits as well.

I received my Amtrak Trackmobile today - super fast shipping by Train World!!

This is a nice little unit and I plan to put it to good use on my layout.

It does move through my Super Snap 072 switch tracks - both straight and Thru with only a slight blink, but does continue without stopping.

I saw John's post about the delicate windows on Trackmobiles, but I was too late! Out of the sealed box, one of the side windows was already loose in the cab!

I don't want to start taking apart the unit, nor send it back for another one (that will likely have the same problem). I will look up John's post and hopefully will find a way to grab and re- glue the window.

I researched a prior post, where "Canopy Glue" was recommended for use to re-attach the window. I just ordered a bottle. That will give me some time (and courage) to figure out how to remove the cab to get to the windows.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Go slow and you'll see all the wires for the cab lighting.  Getting them back in place was a PITA.

I left my one window out as the driver was hot and needed some fresh air!

Probably not a bad idea!  If another one falls out, it may get the same treatment.

I finally got up the courage to open the unit to get to the window opening.

Much easier than I thought - four screws and the cab was free!

Thanks to John's warning, I was careful with the cab lighting wires. In fact, I only needed to pry up the cab enough to re-install the window (with some canopy glue).

When the glue dries I will re-install the screws and hopefully all will be fine.

Interesting to note, my Grandson Mason (age 6) was visiting last week and when I showed him the trackmobile, he went to pick it up just like I did when I pushed out the window! Now we both know what not to do when  handling this nice little unit.

If I have to open mine again, I'll be a lot more careful of the cab wiring.  It's a natural thing to try to pick it up by the cab, but I'm training myself not to do that!
