This was a Lionel track system from the MPC era. It was good looking and had wide curves and switches. Has anyone ever had this track? Was it ever even made? Also it came with a rubber roadbed.Saw this in an accessory booklet in a 1975 set.

Lionel "Trutrack System" Anyone remember this? (3/30/16) | mowingman
The forum Search function comes in very handy here. The word "Trutrack" has only one meaning. Unlike some other terms, it's very easy to search for and not get a confusing mess in return.

It was manufactured, for sure. A lot of people liked liked it in theory but it was problematic. If you do a search for "Trutrack" you will find numerous past threads on it.

This link told the whole story! thanks Mellow Hudson Mike!
Found a little more on TruTrack:
A lot of hype here -- and a total dud in the end.

I had no idea this even existed. Today I learned!
I've seen some for sale at shows and quite often on EBAY. Tends to sell some-what fast. Must be a few fans. I have heard the turn-outs are hard to find.

Considering the issues with the track, why would you want the switches anyway!
Aluminum rail is a major electrical problem. Oxidation and resulting conductivity issues. Experience with aluminum household wiring over the years has proven this.
Of course Lionel introduced TruTrack about the time that aluminum wiring started to appear, when no one yet knew better. Hindsight is 20/20.

I agree. But clearly someone wants them.
