Hello Everyone,
I just purchased a Lionel 6-24110 PRR Tugboat. While setting it up, I noticed that the owner's manual states that it can be powered with a "standard wall pack power supply." and "the wall pack should be capable of supplying 12-18 volts, 1A (minimum) and have a 2.5mm barrel jack end." Does Lionel make a wall pack that meets these requirements? The owner's manual doesn't list a part number for one, so I wasn't sure. It says 1A minimum, so does that mean that if I find one that is 3A or 4A, will it work without causing any damage to the electronics? Do you guys have any recommendations for a suitable wall pack that I could use?
Thanks,
Scott

Lionel might make one but, like many others, I have a basket full of wall wart chargers. Any AC charger supplying 12-18 volts and at least 1 amp will work. Any thing more than 1 amp will work just fine.
Thanks for the repsponse Dan! I thought that was the case, but I wanted to make sure before I just tried random ones. Hopefully I have one laying around here, but I might have to go buy one somewhere. My wife and I did some extensive spring cleaning a while back and anything like that that wasn't being used probably got tossed.

It basically says you can power it off a transformer. So I would think thats what lionel makes to power it. If you want to use the wall wart option, just put the specs into amazon or ebay and I'm sure it will return some large number of options to chose from that meet the 18V 1A 2.5mm jack requirements.
Could also buy a barrel jack pigtail and hook that up to a standard transformer too.

You don’t need to put a barrel jack on transformer accessory line; the tug has screw terminals on the bottom next to the connections for the controller.

Yes, that makes sense to me as well because they didn't include one with it. I ended up just hooking it up to my test transformer last night just to make sure everything was working properly. Still looking for a wall pack, I'll probably just order one from somewhere.
I really like the tugboat! I'm surprised with how loud the sounds are on it. This might be a dumb question, but is it supposed to represent an early steam powered tug or a later diesel powered tug? I thought with it being PRR, it could be either one. What do you guys think?

Not to hijack the thread, but I also have an old gym bag/satchel having dozens of these wall warts!
Anyone have a 'responsible' idea of what to do with them???
I can't even tell you whence they came! I swear they must be reproducing!
Meanwhile, back to the original post...

Make sure the switch in the back is set to AC if you're powering it from the transformer.
Has anybody downloaded a version of the tugboat manual? The tugboat I have did not come with a manual, and the link above does not work.
Thank you!
