Hi Guys,

SO I added some uncouplers from Lionel (Fastrack models) and I notice that some of my cars and locos work great and others don't work at all.  I haven't started taking couplers and trucks apart yet but I'm wondering if I need to buy a different brand of truck/coupler combination for those that don't work.  The cars where the couplers don't open have couplers that appear to sag and so the metal part that works the uncoupler is already touching the track.  This means the coupler won't come open.  Any suggestions would be great.  Thanks

If the uncoupler armature is too close to the track, it may not have enough movement to uncouple.  Of course, exactly what kind of truck/coupler and perhaps some pictures would be useful here.

I'll have to get back to you with pics if I can get close enough.  Some are definitely Lionel couplers that are part of the truck and they hang too close to the track.  Some are on scale model trains - hence the reason I posted to 3-rail scale trains as well as traditional 3-rail trains and they have these plates that seem to take a lot of force to open.  Since he has quite a few cars with varying degrees of quality, I thought I would focus on getting the engines uncoupling reliably.  I think I can fix the "plate" coupler engines but the ones with the "button" seems to either mean rigging up some replacement or just giving up on the idea of uncouplers.
