Will,

Thank you very much for all the great times in this thread.  It’s been a fantastic journey, one I know you’ll add too!

Absolute pleasure meeting you and we’ll continue to share our love of UP via a private manner.  I always look forward to your messages.

As I progressed through the pages, our change in modeling the UP was a joy-started in 3R, and now, fine scale 2R models.  As a friend said, “Beautiful brass models never to be done again in O Scale”.  You’ve done a great job capturing some of those in this thread.

Elvis has left the building!  You all take care!

Yeah, if you like highly detailed prototype and model locos (I do) this loco is a winner Sarah. Whose import is it? The side rods and linkage have hex head bolts and not a screw to be seen..........very nice.

Butch I'm pretty sure that's the PSC bull moose. Early prototype. 17001-1.

I've been on a unicorn quest for the late 40's early 50's model versions 17003-1.

I had to go back and look for his last post, as I wondered too. But then found that Aaron stated he was going to quit posting to this forum, which is a real shame. I communicate with him offline and he's quite a talented modeler and has become quite a collector of UP models too. But, he must have his reasons.

Your right Wit, it's a PSC Bullmoose.......I forgot about them. I had a friend back in the day (Terry Paige) who like Ed Campbell, collected every model ever made for the UP. Both of them had phenomenal collections. Terry was a dealer for all them major importers and was the one who campaigned for PSC to build and import the Bullmoose. IIRC, it wasn't a great seller back in the 90's when it came out, because it was a very expensive model, but over the years other imported models became very expensive too.

This is not O scale, but every now and again I look to see what HO and N have to offer. For the longest time I've been looking from the sidelines at the Scale Trains 8500 HP turbines. Scale Trains came on the scene in 2015 with the bravado that they were going to raise the bar in HO.......well they did it.

I finally broke down and bought one of their HO Museum Quality 8500 HP turbines to see what it was all about. Very impressive to say the least. I've owned at least one of every turbine OMI offered in O scale and most in HO. I understand the technology at the time, even with the late 90's into the early 2000's wasn't where it is today, but this Scale Trains HO turbine is the finest turbine of this type to ever be built. I never realized this type of detail could be accomplished in plastic, but computers have solved that concern.

And since it comes DCC/DC with some outstanding sound features it just blows the mind. Besides the typical control and sound features, it has a speaker in both the "A" and "B" unit so sound comes from the source (so to speak). Besides wheel squeal going through curves, the same sensors trigger a wheel "clunk" when the loco goes through turn-outs or crossings. The exhaust fan bladed disc rotates in the turbine exhaust duct as it is driver by a gearbox from the motor in that unit. The list goes on and on.  Wish they could be convinced to produce an O scale version.
