LIONEL`s made three VISION LINE Steam Engines; the first a PENNSYLVANIA SWITCHER had a Swinging Bell, Smoking Whistle and Blow-Down -- the Second was the ATSF 3000 and has a Swinging Bell, Blow-Down and Steam Effect Whistle -- The Third is the CHALLENGER and has a Steam Effect Whistle, DYNAMO Steam and INJECTOR Steam Effect..

If your idea of "liking the challenge", means sending Vision Line or Legacy models back to Lionel for warranty repair, is "the definition of model trains", then you and I strongly disagree!

Lights, exhaust, whistle, and bell sounds is all I really need. I would much prefer correct details.

If you look at page 6-9 of Lionel's 2011 Vol. 2 catalog shows the Vision Line Centipede engine which just got released from Lionel. Not all of the Vision Line features have been into the mainstream products. An example is the genset switchers only the UP & NS have the 3 independent controlled smoke stacks.

I stand corrected. I thought the centipede was offered in volume 1 2011 catalog. But all in all the vision line started off in 2009 with several new products with all new features being offered. It slowly has been scaled back to fewer products offered branded "vision line" to the point where the centipede was the only new vision line product offered in 2011. I would like to see more.
