Check if the handrails are grounded to the frame, those are the TMCC Antenna.
What John said. I have the 6-11220 (3989). I had the same issue a while back and thought the RCDR had gone bad. After a little messing around check everything I could think of I finally got it working and had worked since. Only issue, I don’t know what I did. But handrails are a very good place to start 😁
I started working on my Challenger again. gunrunnerjohn I have 0 ohms from hand rails to where ant. wire plugs into receiver board. In conventional mode it starts up whistle blows but does not run. Any ideas?
Check to make sure the antenna or the wire isn’t shorted to frame ground
The antenna is not grounded to frame.
Only other thing I would do is ensure all other plugs to and from the RCDR (the board the antenna goes to) are all connected and secured in the board also with the other end of the wires that they are all secure in the boards. Do you have other legacy locomotives that respond fine, Just to eliminate the base?
Other legacy locos work fine.Pretty sure the problem is in the loco.
