I have a legacy Y3 I’m converting to PRR HH1, so I bought new inserts for the number boards on either side of the headlight, I can’t get them in.... any tips or tricks?

Are they the same size and shape as the ones you took out?
Yep, same Y6 run as the NW, Virginian...
What's the problem, getting the old ones out or putting the new ones in?
I take them out with an X-Acto knife, just catch and edge on the narrow side and swivel them out, they're press fit. Take the new ones and just align them and press them in.
I'm presuming you're talking about a pilot mounted wedge shaped headlight with lighted numbers.
I got the old ones out easy enough, but these stop about a 32nd shy. Maybe file them down a bit
Try repositioning them a bit back and forth before you try to press them in. They only fit when they're in the exact right spot. You shouldn't have to file them, they should all be the same size.
