How many lockons are required per foot of MTH Realtrax. I just assembled a 40 foot continuous oval layout, no crossovers etc. using DCS, Z1000 and TIU. In my old Lionel "O-27" days I would use one lockon per 6ft. Thanks

I'd start with just the one lockon for the oval. If you experience low DCS Signal strength you could always insulate the center rail of 2 straight sections opposite each other and add another lockon to the now isolated section that doesn't have one. Joe
At a minimum, i'd use 4. one at each of the ends(east/west), and one at north/south. That way, the engine won't be more than 5 feet from a lockon. Realtrax if properly put together will have good connections from section to section, you'll just have to see if the engine slows down in between lockons. then add another lockon.
The High Plains 3 railers have been operating a 24 *14 foot module layout using Realtrax for the past 10 years . We use only 1 lockon on each loop.
Yes more would be better but if your having no problems who cares.
