Can anybody recommend a good painter and weathering artist for a brass locomotive?
Looking at buying a brass loco that hasn't been painted.

If you can take it apart , you can paint it. If you are not happy with the way it looks you can strip it and start over. That is the way I do it.
Diesel (Electric) or Steam? The desired paint scheme is a big determinate with diesel carbodies, as in how many colors, stripes, how much masking is involved etc. Hood vs Cab unit etc.
Steam in my experience and relative to harley rider's comment (which I agree with in general) is USUALLY far trickier to disassemble and reassemble.
Weathering for me is a separate process from the paint job, especially now with the advent of dry washes etc.
Start with a freight car and see how that works for you.

Good advice. I've decided to paint it myself. Have done some painting in the past. The biggest challenge is disassemly/reassembly. This is a B&O 2-8-2 loco.
You may not have to take your engine all the way apart, but take plenty of pictures so you can get it back together.
