The title pretty much covers it. I have installed my first ERR cruise board and just got a Railsounds commander board but I need the cable to connect the two together. I put an email out to ERR but I was wondering if anyone here had one to sell? Thanks for any help. Merry Christmas!

Chris, It should have been in the Cruise Lite package. That board comes with it's own cable since the plugs are different. G
That's what Ken at ERR said as well. I think they will send me one but I figured I'd give it a shot that one of you guys might have one. I would like to get this project done. I could run the sound board stand alone but I'll be running the engine in TMCC most of the time. Thanks G.
Chris, one of the cables for the Cruise boards has two plugs, one of these is the one you need for the Railsounds. On my first conversions I did not catch it. The cable has a longer plug with a notch that I cut with a flush cutting tool to fit. My first conversions I spliced a plug from other units.

I have a bunch of the full Cruise Commander cables, but the only ones for the CC-Lite are in new packages of the CC-Lite.

Hi Ray do you mean this plug that goes from the sound commander board to the Cruise "lite" board? You modified this to fit?

Chris, ERR is super responsive, you would get it faster from them, even if I mailed you one today. G
Chris, that will be an extra harness you will have. The Lite comes with the correct harness. If it was left out of the hardware package the board came in, you will need it. If you talked to Ken, he probably put it in the mail already. G

They definitely are responsive and Ken at ERR has always gotten back to me. They may have just got busy with the holiday's and all. it's been a couple of weeks now. I don't want to be a "PITA" to them.
Chris, No that is not the cable that I cut down, but it is the one that I cut off and spliced in a new plug on some of the first conversions I did. Darn, I wish I had taken a pic of the stuff as it came, it would make this discussion easier.

Obviously, if you have the tools and connectors/contacts, you can just lop this one off and replace it with the 1.5mm connector that Lionel uses on the CC-Lite. I had to do that one time when I didn't have the proper cable, I foolishly gave one away and later needed it. Failing that, you'll probably have to wait for ERR. If you get really desperate, I could build a cable for you...

Source for the 1.5mm connectors and wires to Make up the difference sizes? I've resorted a few times to just soldering the wire on the backside of the connector pad since I didn't have the connector.
I've got the older styles but these smaller ones I haven't found exactly what I've been looking for. DigiKey, Mouser, etc?
Thanks
Jim
The 1.5mm Lionel connectors used on most Legacy and the CC-Lite are JST ZH line connectors, I buy them at Digikey.

You can get the pins at the bottom of any connector shell page.
Thanks GunRunnerJohn,
Is there a source for the pins with the wires already pre-done? Like Lionel has for some items:
If no pre-wires available as the picture above, is there another crimper available than the one DigiKey has listed for these? They want: $489.89 for
http://www.digikey.com/product...art=WC-491&v=455. Holy crap!
Jim
I use the Engineer PA09 Crimper, if you look around, you can maybe find it for around $30. It works for the 1.5mm, 2.0mm and 2.5mm connectors used by Lionel. I also use it for the 2.0mm connectors for MTH. I have a different crimper for the 1.25mm Lionel and 1mm MTH connectors.
I don't know of any source of wire with pre-crimped pins, and since I typically want a whole harness without splices, I go the route of crimping the contacts myself.
Hi guys. Got a guestion about adding an extra speaker, will it hurt the railsounds board? Added cruiselite and railsounds to a American models S gauge engine. Had to use a Lionel pankcake speaker, the volume could be better Tight fit to use supplied speaker Is it possible to install another pancake speaker without damaging the electronics? Thanks

You may do better to start a new thread to get an answer to this question. You might also try one of the small rectangular speakers available from several of the electronics suppliers on the web, for some of these you will need to make an enclosure but they are small and give decent volume.
Could you post a picture of your installation of the ERR components in the engine? I have several AM engines and would love to put Cruise Lite but do not know how to fit it in.
You need to match impedance if you're going to add multiple speakers. The RS boards want to see an 8 ohm speaker or speaker combination. If you want to use two speakers, you need to either use two 4 ohm speakers in series or two 16 ohm speakers in parallel.
Thanks. The speaker used was a lionel 8ohm 2w. Have 2 and was hoping to add the other. Insulation was in a Gg1. Don't think You could add cruise lite and rail sounds together in a smaller American models engine
Get the proper speaker impedance if you want to add two speakers.
As far as adding Cruise and sound to small engines, here's an RMT BEEP with cruise, sound, and greatly enhanced lighting, and it all fits in this little 6" shell. Never say never.

Yes I agree. Yours is o gauge. S gauge is a lot harder
I know that the CC-Lite has been installed in S-gauge, so it's certainly possible.
Yes you are 100% correct. I have done many. Thanks
Chris, take a ride over I have what you need.
Marty, that was December, I sure hope that Chris has found a cable by now!
We talked about that engine. He has to pick something up here. That was a reminder. Chris lives a short distance from me.
I figured he was close, didn't realize he was still looking for that cable.

I'd LOVE to upgrade my three Milwaukee BEEPS! What's the trick to get all that stuff into the little shell? Any write-ups on the conversion?
John, I know a guy with cables.
Small world Marty.
Hi Chris, I seem to remember having the same problem when I put a ERR's CCM board into a Lionel EM-1. I had a plug missing from the package and Ken graciously sent me the necessary plug to complete the job, Ken was very helpful too. Again a many thanks to Marty Fitzhenry for helping me troubleshoot the power board & Gunrunner John for advising me on the CCM and the info on modifying the smoke unit for more smoke volume. Benny Fiorello saw the engine at Greenbergs Toy & Train Show & asked me if the Lionel piece was an MTH loco with the amount of smoke pouring out," you know how much he loves Lionel."
