I have a "Frosty the snow man" engine. I put it on the track...when I "Q'd" the sounds, it made a weird noise from the speaker and then.......nothing. It runs ok just will not make ANY..sounds. I looked at the hookup from the engine to the coal car and the pins look find. I tryed another coal car, that has just the speaker as this one has and the same story.....Maybe the mother board just fried????? Should I just send it to Lionel??

If it's under warranty, send it to Lionel. Lionel isn't doing non-warranty work anymore.
You really shouldn't mix different tenders with different engines. You can blow the board and/or speaker. They are not interchangeable internally.

wellllllllllll that what I did... I had a friend give me another engine, that had stop working. So I put my engine to his tender to see if the speaker would work...That's when it made the weird noise. When I put my engine back to my tender it would not work...sounds I mean.. It runs but not a sound out of it since....Oh Pooh... Thanks for the info.. But I never knew that.. I thought the tender only had a speaker in it...

You can stick a conventional reverse board in it, that's simple enough.
