as a fellow Aussie Lover I can tell you I know how your heart must be breaking.  When I lost my best friend of 10 years Joey, it was one of the saddest day of my life.

This is my little girl Samantha, she is 10 years old and has the energy of a puppy!

This is our little boy Rocky.  He is very different than Joey, but variety is the spice of life!

I want to thank all members of our OGR Forum family, including those who have sent e-mail, for their expressions of sympathy over the loss of my beloved Aussie, Pepper, who shared the past 14 years with me through good times and bad.  She was--and is--simply the most faithful, devoted, and loving friend I have ever had.

These past couple of days have been very difficult, and I know that more difficult days lie ahead.  Still, I take great comfort in knowing that so many of you folks would take the time to provide words of sympathy and encouragement.  My heartfelt thanks to all.

Allan,

I can sense your incredible feeling of emptiness.  You have lost your most trusted, innocent and gentle friend.  It is a difficult time and I'm sure you are aware that the healing process will take a while.  When you feel that sense of lonliness begin to enshroud you try and think of the great times you had with Pepper and the warm feeling of togetherness that you both shared.  No one can ever take that away from you and as long as you think of her in those terms she will always be with you.   My deepest condolences for your loss.

When I lost my Frances this past July I kept her ashes.  I ordered an URN and 2 lockets, one of a cross with a paw print for myself, and one of a heart with paw prints across it for my daughter.   The lockets have a little of her ashes in them too.   I ordered them from a website www.perfectmemorials.com

I have nothing but good things to say about them.  Everything was personally engraved and shipped out the same day I ordered them.  Here's some pics:

My condolences as well, Allen.  I too lost my best friend just a few months ago as well after 17+ fantastic years due to "old age"...every now and then I forget, and still look over to her favorite resting spots where she normally waited for me to finish whatever I was doing.

They are truly a loving member of the family...

My sincere thanks to all who have responded to this thread since my earlier Jan. 5 response, as well as to all who have sent cards and e-mail in recent days.

Pepper is home with me now, and her urn occupies an honored place on my mantle where she can be with me for as long as I am around, and then beyond.  Her paw print, collar/tags, and swatch of hair are in a display case of their own.

It has been especially difficult coming home to an empty house, so I just avoid being home as much as possible.  I know things will get better with time, but time is what it will take.

Once again, my thanks to all here for their kind words of support.

Very Sorry to hear about your dog.

I have a 2 year old chocolate Lab. She is by my side as I type this. She shadows me from the time I wake up, waits for me to come home from work and sleeps on her bed just 4 feet from my side of the bed(my wife won't let her up on the bed).

We run in the mornings together except for the last 2 weeks with the frigid cold. She has learned a whole bunch of commands and is a real buddy. My kids always ask if I would be sad if anything happened to her I can imagine how you must feel.

Best wishes
