The for sale forum rules state no responding to a sale post. You have to contact the seller off group to ask questions or the post WILL be deleted. Ask me how I know

Did you reply online or send an Email to the poster?
If you replied online, you may have caused the thread to be deleted because it is against the rules to do so.

to the best of my knowledge, and I could be wrong, there was no email or any other way of reaching the poster.

I looked in the system and it appears that perhaps the item was sold as a sold alert was sent which usually results in the thread being deleted....BUT....if you asked a question rather than emailing the seller, that question is usually deleted unless there are several discussion like posts...then the entire thread may get deleted.

 There should be something bold posted, stuck on the first page for new people to read so they don't get other's posts deleted. Like Do not reply!

I don't think people will click on the rules post first, when they see something they want.

I wish the for sale posts had stayed locked from replies.

fwiw, I found it under recent post on right side of screen and I do not recall any info on automatic deleting etc on that side of screen.  

I am not trying to beat a dead horse, but there should be some delineation on right side of screen.  

on the left side I know which forum I am in, not sure on right side.

btw I rarely look for anything to purchase or sell, so I felt it was a serendipitous accident to see it on top of recent posts. 

I will now shut up.

I'm still scratching my head over the fact folks will go to the effort of posting items for sale and yet not provide an email so that potential buyers can contact them per forum rules. Sounds like what happened here. Like I said a head-scratcher....

The original poster wrote that he doesn't normally use the Buy-Sell forum.
Did he know to look in the seller's profile to get the email address?
Most people believe it is a bad idea to put your contact information in a listing.
Having to get the contact information from the profile provides just a bit of protection.

Get a second email account just for selling. That's what I did. If it gets spammed, get another one. - they are free.
