Which locomotive? Do you run DCS or conventional? Do you know whether the Mars light is an LED or incandescent? It’s possible that after a recharge a feature or factory reset might need to be done. If you are using DCS there should be a soft key to control the Mars light function.

Its a MTH PREMIRE PS2 765 STEAM LOCOMOTIVE.I run conventional with a MTH z4000.

I invite more to chime in here.Do not be shy guys!Let me hear from you.

Have you looked to see if the bulb is burned out?

No I have not but I have just taken a look. And I can not really tell.I mean what am I am looking for here.Is there to be a black mark or some thing.Which I did not see.

Have you opened the boiler front and looked at the bulb? If it was burned out it would probably show it. Have you tried a feature reset? Maybe someone turned the headlight off?

Make sure the tether is seated well where it plugs into the engine. Unplug it and plug it back in.

you have a PS1 system, so a good battery is a must for everything to work properly...

Tom

It has a new battery in it.But because I have not operated it in a while. That is why I was recharge it.How ever I will look at the plug in.Some times the plug may not be all the way in.Now I have a z4000 transformer. But I do not sure how to do the factory reset. So walk me though it.Thanks for your help.

John, the number is above. It’s a PS1 20-3032-1

Tom

If it is then its been up graded to ps2.

Maybe, but it started life as a ProtoSound locomotive, not a PS/2.

20-3032-1 - 2-8-4 Berkshire Steam Engine - 3 Rail w/Proto-Soundr Cab # 765

The parts breakdown clearly shows a PS/1 board and tether.

I see a circuit board that's unidentified in the parts diagram, so that's probably what controls the lighting functions.  Being PS/1, there is nothing but power and motor in the tether from the tender, so any light functions are in the locomotive.

O.K. I going to go out on a limb here.Is there a bulb that I can replace.Or should I just take it to a Mth repairman.Or should I go to electronics store and try find a replacement of my own.

YIKES!!That is a lot of parts!!Alright so what about the bulbs?BTW Thank you for the information.

My point is, I suspect it's not just bulbs.  When the PS/2 upgrade was performed, they could have decided not to try to use the MARS light.  The only way to find out what is actually happening inside is to check out how it's wired now.

Well my thing is the marslight was working and the number boards were also working. Its only after I recharged the battery.I noticed the mars light and the number boards were no longer working. But every thing else works inside cab light, firebox glow, back up light, main headlight and clear strong sound and working smoke until.I just do not know is it possible to let it charge to long?I can not help feel I did something wrong here.Any way thanks again.
