Matching switch ID’s for Layout Control System Custom Control Panel

It looks like the ID assignment info is only found in the ASC2 Setup instructions.  There was also a reference to adding a device so the system will “know” the position of each switch and it will be displayed correctly on the Custom Control Panel at all times.  I can’t find that information now, along with which LCS device that requires.

Help from someone who’s traveled this road will be much appreciated!

Just edit the switch (on the ipad) to match the ID you've already assigned to the physical switch.  I'm not at home or I'd walk you through it but you can edit the switch id on the iPad.

There used to be a great LCS page on Lionel's site but it seems to have disappeared.

The LCS STM2 determines the correct switch position for the iPad to display.

Thanks all.  Yes, just found it again, 6-82728 LCS STM2 module is what causes correct switch position to display.  Looking forward to additional info others may post about experience and other documentation.  This will be a big investment, mainly in all the ASC2’s required, so would like to see a way to a successful implementation!

I run LCS for my entire layout minus the trains.  I used to have non command switches using a ASC2 module.  It worked fine and yes the switches were assigned sequentially from the first switches address on the ASC2.  This is more a function of the ASC than the iPad.  When laying out the switches on the iPad just place the switch and give it the same address that the ASC2 uses for it.  Not sure if that's clear but if you have 4 switches and the first one is assigned 5 then the next 3 hooked to the ASC2 will be 6,7, and 8.  When placing them on the iPad just dial the same number to the switch on the iPad and it will control the switch hooked to the corresponding ASC2 port.

The Legacy Station’s “Lionel LCS App Explained” article https://www.legacystation.com/...el-lcs-app-explained is excellent.  I had disregarded it because of broken links, until finally reading beginning to end this morning. It’s internal links are broken and many illustrations or diagrams are lost, but the information otherwise is all there (you just can’t use the links to jump to things) and very thorough.  Word search functions so you can look for instances of a word or phrase (“control-F”, “command-F” etc depending on computer or mobile device) to find what you’re looking for, making up for the broken links.  Among many other things, it includes how to assign desired TMCC switch ID’s on the iPad, in the App, so that the switch can be thrown using that ID from your remote, or by tapping on the iPad screen image.  While we’re waiting for Dave Olson to complete the new documentation, Legacy Station’s is a big help.

MartyE, I’m curious whether you use multiple “custom panels”, or one big panel using “pan and zoom” for your layout?  Reason for your choice and your satisfaction with it?
