I added a new section to my layout. Using the TIU outputs Var1/Var2 there is a 35 foot distance to the distribution boards. The wires from the distribution board extend to various track points up to 15 feet.

while running TMCC over this is flawless, DCS signal is almost non-existant. Are the distance to great? Do I need to add another TIU close to the distribution board?

thanks for any insight.

Paul,

The 35' foot run between the TIU output and the tracks is most likely not the problem at all. The distance is fine.

I'd suspect, instead, that one or more of the TMCC engines are degrading the DCS signal. Remove all of the TMCC engines from the tracks and see if things improve.

This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!

You should be OK providing the wire is at least 14 gauge to the terminal block, Place a magic bulb on the terminal block.  It's possible you may have tooo many feeders from the distribution block, I'd disconnect all but 1 (leave the blacks alone) and start adding feeders doing a track signal as you go. I can give you an example, we had 3  ten foot blocks with a low track signal 5 or 6. We made it one long 30 foot block and got a perfect 10. go figure!
