After purchasing a $20 flat car with a Menards Van on it, I now have over 70 different pieces of Menards train items.  I shall point out the items I like.

I have several of the buildings, and I like the ones that have animated signs on them.  I am very impressed with the LED Illuminated Billboard.

Also, the dual Track Black Train Bridge with 4 Red Blinking LEDs is quite nice for the price.

I bought several Wall Wart Plug & Play Power Supplies for the buildings, etc.

I have bought the 8 piece Plug and Pay accessory kit and the 9 piece Plug and Play Kit.  The 9 piece kit, has 2 LED 6 bulb light strips that are intensely bright and I have many ideas what to do with them.  It is with great hope that they sell those light strips in different colors.

There are quite a bit of O Gauge Freight Cars, O Scale Flat Cars, Army and Navy Cars etc. e.g.  The 14 3/4 inch flatcar that has a laser etched deck and has an Army, Navy, or Coast Guard Helicopter on it  plus the trucks on these cars are real 3 spring sprung roller bearing with real revolving roller bearings -- just like Lionel--(Sharp).  Tons of quad hoppers, single and triple dome tankcars, gondolas, various size flatcars with laser etched decks that have army and navy items.  I always wanted to have an army or navy train.  BTW, the weathered and non-weathered boxcars are very sharp and guess what--they are one-inch longer and taller than Lionel 6464 styled boxcars plus they have metal brake wheels that are held on by a phillip's screw which means you will not get a surprise when you open the box, because the brake wheel will always be there!   And there car ends have printing on them.

Menards has people packs and trees, etc.

Menards offers "O"Gauge Tubular Track (all of the big box train manufacturers have discontinue this track) in the following sizes:  Curves, 0-31, 0-36, 0-42, 0-54, 0-72 and 0-96.  Straights, 10 inch, 30 inch and 10 inch transition piece for mating with Lionel Fastrack.  The price is dirt cheap.

I have just touched on some of the very nice "stuff" offered at bargain prices.

The best way to find out what is being offered at Menards, just look them up on line:  MENARDS.COM/TRAINS

It may be interesting to see if Menards will offer Steam Engines, Diesels plus Passenger Cars in the near future.

Another thing, Menards is going so heavy into the "train stuff", they need to sell parts for there items.

How to buy your train stuff at Menards.  Go to Menards.com/trains, mark down the SKU numbers of what you want and take it to the store.  Any clerk can look up the numbers you want and set up your order.  And don't forget to go shopping on the 11% rebate days where you save 11% on everything you buy.  Menards will place your order for there train stuff and have it sent (free of charge) to that store.  Some items, are not able to be sent to the store, which they will mail to your home for postage. If you live too far from the store, Menards will mail it to your home -- there is a charge for mailing.  If you apply for a Big Red Card, you can save 2% off your entire order (at the cashier) whether the 11% rebate is running or not.  AND, if you apply for a Menards "BIG RED CREDIT CARD", you will be able to get 2% off (yes, besides the 11% rebate days), whether you are in the store on the 11% rebate days or not.  Which means, if you play your "cookies" right, you can save 13% on all the things you buy at Menards.  Does any other big box store like Menards give you discounts back on the merchandise you buy?

If you buy something that is defective, just bring your item, cash register receipt and printed order form to the return desk.   They will take care of you.

Sincerely yours,    railbear601

I'd like to see a nice coaling tower and sanding station, similar to ones used by C&O.  You never know as it could happen, especially if they like east coast railroads!

I've been equally impressed with there buildings as I have a few myself.

The lit vehicles are just a little pricey at $29 ea, but when they have a sale, on some train cars, sometimes they'll offer up one of those lit cars as a free gift.  That's the time to buy!

Some folks have complained about the wheel sets not being perfect and I understand your issues.  But for the price, really now, just a minor adjustment if needed is all it takes to set it right.

We all know the product comes from China and we all know that quality control isn't always their best suit.  Thus why I give Menards and other manufacturers a pass on items that aren't exactly perfect out of the box.  It's not like Menards is deliberately manufacturing defective wheel sets on purpose.

Although I now have a ho layout but I do have some of the Menards ho buildings with more coming as I get more funds.

The Menards buildings are not popular with Ho modelers, they consider them to be toys and not worth having. A mistake IMO. The buildings are well built, well detailed and lighted, yes each one has Jack the Shepard. Gotta have Jack.

I wish Menards would have more ho vehicles.

And, again, the only reason a major home improvement chain like Menards has a train line at all is because founder John Menard is an enthusiastic train guy.

According to previous posts from Mark the Menards Train Guy, the hobby line was predicated on the idea that it wouldn’t get in the way of regular business operations. It was never intended as a big profit maker, though obviously it has succeeded and certainly hasn’t been a money loser.

The variety of buildings Menards has produced has certainly exceeded my expectations. I have no more room to accommodate any more structures, but Menards keeps tempting me.

Hello Fellow Train People:   I have been writing about Menards and have read all of your replies to my last blog.

YES -- you can order on line and Menards will send you the receipt back to you.  If you order train stuff on the 11% rebate day, the receipt will have the rebate amount (the last item on the receipt) for you to send back to Elk Mound, Wisconsin.  Since I live near 2 Menards Stores (one in Cincinnati, Ohio and one in Florence, Ky) I asked the clerk for extra rebate slips and the clerk said - "Be my guest".  Nice people!   If you have no way of getting the Rebate form, call the closets Menards and I am sure they will send you some rebate forms. Once you have them, you can copy one of them on your computer for future orders,  Also, if you order on line, just ask the clerk to send you extra rebate forms.

YES -- Mr. Menard loves 3 rail trains.  His German Shepherd Dog (Jack) has the spotlight as Mr Menard sells a Boxcar and Dog Food Factory in the dogs honor.  BTW:  His illuminated accessories like buildings, bridges, billboards and trucks/cars are fantastic items.  I was amused with the accessory "Gamer and Thrones" Toilet Maker Company with a revolving toilet on the roof!!!  Most of these accessories that are illuminated or have motorized action use Menards  Wall Warts to power them.  And you can buy the Accessory Kits to go along with the Wall Wart(s). The accessory kits have Splitters, extra wires and connectors, and some even have led lighting strips.  I mention all of this because everything Menards sells is rather in expensive.   How Menards sells these items for such low prices is most interesting.  BTW all of his large illuminated accessories have 2 outlets so you can either plug in your wall wart on the side of an accessory or drill a hole through the floor of your layout and plug in on the bottom of the accessory hiding the plug wire.

I guess if you want Menards to make something "new", write the home office in Wisconsin.

Menards prices are a breath of Fresh Air compared to what the other Train Manufacturers are charging.  His prices remind me of the early years when you could buy a Lionel boxcar in the early 1970s for $5 to $10 dollars.

Enjoy your trains........railbear601

PS:  Nobody paid me to write my blogs and when I shop Menards, I usually buy something else.

Sincerely yours,    railbear601
