I have two independent loops that consist of the outer loop with fastrack and the inner loop with 027. I want to create a passing loop with center isolation. Does any one know what I need in material to do this? Any help is much appreciated. Note I have several 027 switches. Not sure if the can be used to connect to fastrack loop. Thank you

A couple of thoughts. First, you will need a cork base under the O27 track to bring it up to the height of the Fastrack. Second, the transition piece Lionel sells is for O31 track. You will need to get a couple of loose connecting pins and stretch out the holes at the end of the O27 track using pliers or any other suitable tool, then insert the pins and crimp the holes shut. Do not use the section where the 2 brands connect to isolate. I'd do it between the first 2 interconnected O27 tracks of the passing loop next to the piece of O27 track which is mated to the Fastrack. Just cut the center rail with a dremel took or use a plastic connecting pin.

I made my own adapter from 027 to FT for a couple of stub sidings. Easy enough to do. Yes, the rail heights are different and you will need to shim the 027 to match the FT. I didn't worry about it with mine since I'm not running at high speeds.
If I understand correctly, you are trying to run two different tracks through the same siding? If you run conventionally, a single pole double throw switch installed between both transformer outputs with the common terminal feeding the center rail. Place the isolation pins where you want to isolate the center rail on the siding. If you use an On-Off-On switch it will serve as your isolation switch to shut off the power when you want to.

That looks like a ski jump, doesn't that cause you any issues?

Not at all John- the track leads to a short siding. Anything more than minimal voltage would send the car through the bumper at the end . I soldered the rails when I installed it on the layout which smoothed it out too.

I want to thank all of you that have responded.
Great ideas and suggestions.
Questions
1. the loops are 4 inches apart, so what switch angle should be used to make this work and other track needed. I am asking because I need to purchase and don't want to purchase the wrong parts.
