I have found these quite useful for gently wiping fingerprints off trains, cleaning my eyeglasses/frames, computer and smart phone screens, and removing oil or smoke fluid from loco surfaces. 3M makes these in a small convenient size (7" X 6.3") that I keep handy in my office, trainroom and bathroom.

Having had five years of chemistry, I am well aware of how solvents can react with various plastics and also painted metal surfaces. I generally avoid them in favor of a dry or slightly moistened microfiber cloth with excellent results.
