A few months ago we added DCS to our layout in passive mode. I followed the wiring suggestions in Barry's book and we have good signal around the layout -- never lower than an 8, typically 9 or 10.
One issue that has arisen is when using the microphone in the DCS handheld. My son loves it and he is often running his Railking SD70 with PS3. Often what will happen is that when he uses the mic feature, the locomotive will lose connection with the control and become unresponsive. The fix is to shutdown the power to the track and restart the DCS TIU and handheld. Then on restart all is good.
The locomotives we have (2 allegheny PS3 locos, and a PS2 GG1) all otherwise run perfectly, so I am a bit puzzled. All these locomotives also are susceptible to this issue.
I am not that concerned other than the fact the kids like to use the mic to make announcements and love the DCS handheld, so I want to see them have full use of the stuff they like. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks.
