Happy Valentines Day, or Ash Wednesday, or Wednesday as many of us call it. Midweek Photos is back and today, we see that it is brought to you by the letters N and S. Sunday and Monday of this week seemed to be like any other, with the exception of a lot of fog. But on Monday afternoon, I saw that in the Steamtown yard, on the edge of what we call Bridge 60, were sitting two Norfolk Southern diesels. I didn't have my "good" camera handy, so I brought it along on Tuesday. Lo, and behold, the units were not only there, in the sunshine, but on the move.
Yes, the same two units parked on the western edge of Bridge 60, now in motion. This is SD40-2 no. 3343, coupled with GP38-2 no. 5669, which is one of the Norfolk Southern Operation Lifesaver locomotives.
They were heading off to get a train together to take to the various businesses either on the Pocono Main, which is the former Lackawanna railroad, or the Carbondale Branch, which was once the Delaware & Hudson.
Then, I encountered these giants as I parked my car. Right by Bridge 60 tower, which is the office of Alco-only Delaware Lackawanna are this GE ES44AC no. 8026 along with GE Dash 9-40CW. Not exactly sure what they were doing here, but none of the usual Alcos operated by D-L were around.
There is this non-operational RS3, which is Reading no. 467. She is a regular visitor at Steamtown, owned by the Delaware-Lackawanna and not in service.
I also found this comparison of new and old interesting to make this photo.
That is my offering for today, in black and white. LOL Now, it's your turn to pass around a photo or two of your real world pictures. See you later.
