Yes, here we are on that magical 366th day that makes for a leap year.  I don't have 366 photos or a locomotive no. 366 to share with you, but hopefully these pictures will get the Midweek thread going.

In November, 2011, this display train of freight cars and two Alco diesels was placed on Steamtown's entrance road where it stayed for most of the winter.

On Feb 8, it came time to move one of the locomotives of display.

Since neither C420 no. 414 or RS3 no. 467 operate on their own, the track mobile was hauled out to  pick up no. 414.

Grabbed it, and now they are on the move.

The forklift was to pull the fence out to open the track to the table.

The next day, a light snow coated 414.  If you come to Steamtown now, you will not find her.  This Alco will be refurbished and returned to the operating fleet of the Delaware Lackawanna Railroad.  the shop is located about 1 mile away in the South section of the city.

That's all for now.  I hope you all had a good week and some success in capturing the train action nearby.  Post here if you did.  Thanks!

From Sunday February 26th At Button's Bluff Overlook on the CSX James River Line. This is looking north from over the portal at Little Tunnel.

On President's Day, February 20th, there was a light coating of snow and the scene looked almost like Christmas.  There was just no reason to leave a near picture perfect scene intact without adding a good train to it; therefore, I cloned in a coal train from another shot taken on the 26th - see below, or view the larger view at

the following link: http://classiclights.org/CSX-S...ed-1024x768-text.jpg

Otherwise, the scene today awaits a little greening from another couple weeks of spring:

An hour at Fairhope, Pa, on the east slope of Sand Patch Grade.

First two are of a helper set climbing the hill, west bound.

Next two are a coal drag east bound down hill. The rail fans have

built a bench on a small cliff there, and the last four were taken from

there using a 28mm lens for the long shots, a 200mm for the closer

up photos.

One usually thinks of the uphill battle with loads..but once you view, from my perspective here, downhill tonnage under control, it's awesome.

Dang Bob, that second shot of yours is killer!  I missed last week; my computer had a blow out.  My wife was going through a bunch of photos and it fried the video card!  So, I just got a bigger one.  Anyway, winter has finally arrived.  Not very cold, but at least I finally have my beloved snow!  A few shots.  First is from Lester, IA, a tiny town on the SD/IA border.  Second shot is from Mitchell, SD.  Third is from Sioux Center, IA.  I was busy standing in line at that third door and didn't see the train go by.
