This week, MidWeek Photos goes back to early January, 2012, when I was traveling through Virginia. I stumbled across this railroad station restoration project.
Lee Hall was built to serve customers, freight and passenger on the Chesapeake & Ohio's peninsula extension.
The station looks like it was moved across the road since the back (flat side) faces the rails.
.. and this Bay Window area being rebuilt would have faced the rails.
This end looks like it might have been the "colored" entrance. Most railroad depots in the south were built during the segregation era.
The C&O is now CSX, and they still use this line, as is shown with this oncoming coal train.
As this train passes into the sunset, I will turn the thread over to you. Are any restoration projects going on in your area?
Any photos of the real world of trains are appreciated. Add them here, and enjoy your week.
