From the last couple of weeks, got to love all the blue skies in September in Missouri and Illinois. Dan

Here are some odds and ends from Northeastern PA since Steamtown's Railfest 2015 ended.

Sometime during Railfest, a trickster placed a pumpkin on the Big Boy, UP 4012 at Steamtown.  It was taken down by the Thursday after, I believe.  Nickel Plate Road 765 was under steam waiting for the Norfolk Southern crew to take her northbound.  The NS diesel, 2650 should take a number of the cars and Amtrak display pieces southbound. Both trains left Steamtown in the 3 o'clock hour of September 8.

For September 12 and 13, Steamtown brought the cab of Boston & Maine 3713 to Nicholson, PA for display.  It was brought up to a huge town fair to celebrate 100 years of the Tunkhannock Creek Viaduct.  We brought it to promote awareness of the steam locomotive restoration, and encouraged selfies to be taken.

We even let people enter the cab if they wanted, so photos could be taken.  More on this engine at www.project3713.com

Dopey me.  While I was in Nicholson for both days, I neglected to take photos of the bridge.  So here is a photo I snapped when she was only 95 years old.

Some nice shots above from Wyoming.  Some day I'll check it out.  Meanwhile, the track work continues on the BNSF Canton (SD) Sub, forcing the D&I to run after MoW knocks off for the day.  This won't last forever, so I'm making the most of it!

1. Engineer Mike Bartleman edges past a BNSF work train (NS) at the Canton SD elevator.

2. Another D&I s/b at the Canton elevator.

3. Train passes the MILW freight depot in Hudson, SD.  The depot is also still there, but that's a shot for another night.

4. Steam tractor operator giving directions to threshing team at Andover, SD.

5. The noon tractor parade at the James River Valley Threshing Show (Andover, SD.)

Now, off to Kansas City.
