I stumbled upon this find, not knowing that MTH actually did a thing called Mikes Toy House and made reproductions of original Tinplate toys.   This is perfect standard gauge size.  This was made way before I started collecting trains, so I never knew.  It's called the "Kingsbury Fire House & Pumper".   Both the firehouse and pumper wind up.  The firehouse rings a bell a few times and then doors swing open and bell rings a few more times.  The pumper winds up, you can set wheel direction and then it goes, while ringing a bell.

I wonder what other, cool item's, they made.

Trying to find the product page but they also made "Mr. Atomic"

A little blurb I found:

The original robot, Mr. Atomic, was made in the early sixties and came in 2 color variations: grey and blue. The robot was originally produced by Yonezawa in Japan. These days an original grey Mr. Atomic is a rare and hard to find robot, the blue one is almost impossible to find and is much more rare and scarce than the grey variation.

In the early nineties, an usa company called MTH ( Mikes Toy House ) reproduced this robot. 500 examples in grey and 500 in blue, all individually numbered. This is probably one of the best reproductions ever made from a tin toy robot. The look, feel, actions and even the box is there.. all just like the ones from the sixties.

This is just the case https://mthtrains.com/10-1011

I believe the five items mentioned:

The Kingsbury pumper and station

The Amos and Andy Car

The Hi-way Henry Car

Robby the Robot

The Atomic Robot

are the only items made by Mike's Toy House.

At one time I had all but the robots, and they come up often enough on the auction sites (and at York).  I have yet to see either variation of the robot come up for the last 5 years or so, but I don't search for it, so it might.

Yes, Mike produced these early in his MTH career. They were nice but deemed by most of us as 'Too Expensive' at the time. Probably because our interest was trains LOL. Same or similar thing with the Lionel tinplate race cars and nice 'Chris-Craft' speedboat. Then they just sort of 'faded away' from the model train scene...
