I'm always looking for more information or stories about the "meat trains" that used to run from Sioux Falls, SD to Bensenville (Chicago) on the Milwaukee Road. The original trains ran 6 days a week from Sioux Falls to Chicago and picked up the day's production at Morrell in SF, Spencer Packing in Spencer, IA, reefers from Hormel in Austin, MN that were brought to Mason City, IA, and possibly Hygrade in Postville, IA. I'm told that at times they also ran a separate second section of this train that originated in Austin through Dubuque and ran 10 minutes behind the first section through Savanna.
