Just got this beautiful PS-2 3243 passenger set today. It's from 2001 so has been sitting around a while. It is unrun as advertised, but has been on display at one time. The nickel trim will need some polish. No biggy.

This is my first Std Gauge Ives so a few questions. First thing a noticed while oiling the wheels is that the trucks hit the steps on the passenger cars. Was this the norm on the repro's? Definitely an issue on 42" curves. A little prying and all is well.

Next, the bent upward lip on the coupler seems to be a bit to tall or the opening a bit to small so I have to push hard to get them to latch and then they are a royal pain to uncouple. Again, was this normal, is there a known fix??

All minor things I will work through. Seems to run fine so far and I like the PS-2 sound better than my PS-3 9E.

Steve

Love the white set. I've got some restored, primed Lionel cars and a loco shell that after seeing the white Ives set, I may decide to paint white.

The coupler issue is interesting, and a surprise to me. I have an MTH Ives set, the 3245 Olympian Hiawatha set in Milwaukee orange and maroon, that was made around the same  2001 time frame. I've had absolutely no problems with the couplers. Maybe that's because the cars on that set are actually repro Flyer cars; perhaps the coupler mounting is different. In any case, my experience with the couplers has not been the same.
