I purchased yellow, red & green rolls of reflector tape from Hobby Lobby a few years back to try to make my day targets on Caboose Industry 210S & 209R ground throws, show up better. It sells for,(then), $9.99 a roll which there's a nice amount on a roll.
I've been thinking how it would look on 4750 cvd grain hoppers,so today my curiousity got the best of me & I tried my 1st strip on a CSX 4750. It seems to stick well on applying it. It's yellow fluorescent. Am I using the best reflectorized material available to a modeler? Are there decals or other material for use that would show up better? This isn't night glow, but reflects well under light which the Prototype material does too,but I'm thinking the material on Prototype cars is much more sensitive to lower emisions of light than my tape & can be seen at greator distances.
I was told by a company that makes targets for the railroads as well as all signs, that this material is simply reflector tape. I thought it was a special paint or other material all these years.
I'd like to get material for my railroad cars that's as close to or the same thing as the Prototype material. Can someone help me out here?
Thanks to all in advance for your replies & information.
