Modifying the RailKing #30-7930 SP Rotary Snow Plow

The RailKing Rotary Snow Plow includes a motorized rotary blade, headlight and interior lighting. The model can be improved by first adjusting the location of the two interior lamps and adding an electronic E-unit that will cycle the rotary blade on or off depending on whether the snow plow is being pushed or pulled. I have a spare E-unit for a Williams engine that I will use. I also intend to paint the blades similar to the atatchment.

That's a pretty good idea, might even want to look into this thread where the poster modified his rotary snow plow so the blades would rotate at more realistic speeds.

Since in the past you've shown that you like to do some scratch/kitbashing, you could try taking the above model and make it look like a real SP snowplow: http://espee.railfan.net/sp_rotaries.html

For mine, I'm considering adding TMCC control for the lights and blade. I'd love to have a smoke unit in there for simulated snow.

I'm wondering if it could be rigged up to actually blow snow on an outdoor layout. You'd have to creep along for sure, but it would be an interesting.

I think that's a pretty tall order, it would have to be VERY fluffy light snow, there isn't much power there. I don't see that as all that practical, and I sure don't want to push it around in the snow with any of my engines.

Help me, I just bought the same SP Rotary as describe in this thread, I am going

to convert mine to 2 rail, ad a Vanderbilt tender I have, then put in DCC decoder, I want to model a very "Early" model Southern Pacific Rotary, any suggestions or help would be appreciated greatly!
