The Phantom train set too is one of those love it or hate it.... I'm still on the fence post about it, but I'm not rushing out to buy one....

Well, I would have to say the old Lionel and Willams Blue Comet. I'm not sure if it's a snubbed piece, but you can just get a more accurate Blue Comet if you wanted to.

Yea I had one of those , it could not pull the skin off a rice pudding if running on track not tin plated. Up graded the motor truck with traction tyres but still not a great puller.

Oh yes, and how could we forget these little munchkins?
I do know though that Jim Barillaro did an insightful article on how to really trick out these Industrial switchers in Run 128 (April 1993) of OGR.
What is Lionelville?
What is Lionelville?
It's a not so successful 63m animated film released in 2009. Here's a synopsis from Lionel:
The rich heritage of Lionel Trains comes to vivid life for the very first time through stunning, computer-generated animation and a thrilling, heartwarming tale for the whole family.
On the eve of Lionel’s annual Christmas display, a fiendish plot to steal the company’s breakthrough technology goes awry, ripping a hole in the fabric of time and space. Years later, teenage twins Nancy and Bobby Pullmor seek to uncover what happened that night, embarking on a perilous journey to an enchanted world where Lionel’s spectacular displays have literally come to life.
It’s full steam to adventure in this first-ever animated feature to capture the magic of the American legend that is Lionel Trains.

It's not that Lionelville didn't have an ending that's shameful, it's that it had a beginning.

There are currently several "Captain High Pocket" units on the Bay right now with Buy It Nows starting at $99 and up. No seeing many sales however.

I guess something does look bad when it's missing one of its parts.
Whoops, I forgot to add - this was how these were delivered from Lionel / JC Penney.

That is just a really bizarre mistake in my eyes. I guess it's like having one of your teeth missing.
I remember I fell off my chair when I saw these "Captain High Pocket" units released in the catalog for 90 dollars!
Just plain ghastly!
So far it seems, this engine is earning the most votes as the most despised toy train out there.
It's so ugly it might be collectable!
Lionelville Destination: Adventure! DVD
So you make a video adventure to help you sell model trains?
Right?
Then you build the story around this secret new locomotive that they have created.
Right?
Then you don't offer a model of the train that the story is built around. They snubbed their own engine!
I still find the above facts amazing.

Well, it probably won't be any Girl's Train anytime soon.
