Have to jump in (sure, you do), but since many are complaining:
The RK O&W 4-8-2 is, of course, a rather presentable, sub-48 model of a New York
Central L-3 4-8-2 (Mohawk). I have scale Mohawks, but I also have this loco in, of
all things, Southern Railway green (the SOU did have green 4-8-2's but they were
USRA and USRA-like locos). It has PS2. It runs well, and I got it years ago because I liked
it. The RK Mountaineer appeals to me for the same reason: handsome, if off. If I were
a 3RO O&W fan I'd be all over it, and just squint a bit. A lot, maybe.
If this has been said above, I apologize:
Now, the O&W did have virtual L2/L3 Mohawk-clone 4-8-2's, which the RK model could
do a very nice job emulating. Unfortunately, the O&W Mountaineer paint job that
is represented was never on the "NYC-type" 4-8-2's - it was on an earlier locomotive,
as seen in the painting above.
Am I correct in saying that the Mountaineer paint scheme never appeared on the later O&W "Mohawk" Mountain?

If you can model and paint and decal a bit, one would get a far better "feel" (and a 1:48
loco, to boot) if one would buy a Lionel scale 4-8-2 (SOU; NH. WP had oil tenders, so, no),
move the headlight up (simple), add a bit of skirting (simple) and a close-as-you-can
paint job - bam - a lanky, Mountaineer-y, 4-8-2.
