Looks like a great offering. I’m very interested in the C&O mountain and the Pere Marquette mikado. Important questions:

Which tenders will the models include? What’s shown in the prototype photos or what’s offered in the catalog?
Will the C&O model have a proper front end: air pumps, headlight, class ligh position?

Will the SP mikado have a proper SP vanderbilt tender?

Love the idea of the B&O and C&O Mountains. Updated NKP Mikado with an updated/better gear box and PA AA set in PRR is always welcomed. Looks like I’ve got a few order to place.

The original release of the NKP heavy Mikado from a few years ago is fantastic. If the new one matches it (paint accuracy, etc), you’ll really be glad you bought one.

I am not trying to be critical just helpful to those picking road numbers or deciding what to get. The prototype for the Jersey Central custom 2-8-2 you are showing #865, had the large fire box that the Lionel model wouldn't actually have. The road number Lionel picked is correct for the stock USRA model Lionel is making. Locomotive numbers 850-859 were the more standard Mikes that CNJ had while the later ones had larger fireboxes for slow burning anthracite coal. I can't find pictures of 850 through 859 with the liberty logo so I don't know if they wore it or not.

Blue Streak, I agree.  I sent MrMuffin the link too and asked what the possibility of doing a 1522 would be.  He responded there would need to be 40 orders to approach Lionel with the idea.  I know there were a lot of people back in the day when she was running from all over the country that came out to watch / chase her.  Hopefully there is enough interest.

The C&O Mountain was a heavy mountain. The Lionel model is a light mountain. The heavy mountain looks considerably "beefier" than a light mountain. I also wonder if Lionel would be willing to make the necessary modifications to make a post 1930 C&O version as shown in Mr. Muffins pictures with all the changes that need to be made to the front of the engine and cab. It would be easier to make a pre 1930 engine as it looks just like an unmodified USRA Mountain with side mounted air pump, standard freight pilot, big cab, and small tender. Just change the lettering on the stock Lionel engine to C&O's pre 1930 style with the road number on the tender and C&O under the cab window. There still is the problem that Lionel's engine is a light not a heavy.

Same with the Illinois Central Mountains.  Also, I don't think Lionel or MTH ever made a heavy mountain.

However, I commend Mr. Muffin and all of the other dealers willing to do custom runs.

Thanks for the insight here. I can’t speak for other modelers and there interest here but the best I can hope for is something representative of a C&O mountain. While the boiler and firebox will not be as stalky as a heavy, if it had at least has the trademark looks of a C&O engine (air pumps on front, headlight and bell position, big vanderbilt tender), that’s probably good enough for me.

Only way to get an accurate model would be brass. 3rd Rail’s not going to do it so a Pat Harmon custom job of 3 railing a 90s Sunset model is needed. Not sure I want to go to that level of effort and expense.

Was really hoping to see a Frisco 1522 in the Lionel Mountain offerings.  Have talked with Lionel and MTH in the past on doing this.  Would there be anyone else that would be interested in seeing the 1522 made?   Here is the link to the 1522's website to find out more info on when she used to run the rails.

I would Definitely be in for a Frisco 1522 !!!!!!  I’d want to see the artwork showing details of proposed model though to decide to commit.

Man …. 40 units is a Huge Number for Frisco !!!! It doesn’t get a lot of “love”.  🫣🫢🤔. Oh well … nothing ventured, nothing gained. 🤔  I’ve emailed Steve sayin “I’m in” for this.
Let Steve know via email !!!!!!!!!!!!

cheers 😉
