Said engine 3 was not found

That indicates that DCS couldn't find the engine when it looked for all of the lashup members.

I went thru all the steps the the third edition DCS book.

There're a lot of steps in my book for a great many situations. Exactly what did you do and exactly what was the result.

just sits there would get the "engine in remote".  Did all the different steps in the book.

That message is only issued when you attempt to add an engine, and the only engines on powered tracks are already in the remote.After the error message, which engine was in the remote's LED window?

Tried the ... horn and bell thing 1/2 second intervals, etc....   nothing ever happened.  

First, that's a conventional reset and must be done using a transformer bell and whistle (or sometimes it can be done from the TR screen) however,the engine must be conventional mode. Further, I've never seem that resolve an issue such as the one that you're experiencing.

Could this be a MTH battery issue I hear about?

Extremely unlikely, since the lashup was run for several days. A battery issue would have surfaced after the first power cycle, and only if you had changed the member engine's DCS ID# prior to cycling power off and back on.

Not having a clue as regards what "steps you took", I suggest the following approach.

Does the engine operate individually? If it does, delete and rebuild the lashup.

If the engine doesn't operate individually, do the following:

• Delete the engine from the DCS Remote. That should also delete the lashup of which it's a member.
• Place the engine on a track controlled by TIU #1 - it must be TIU #1, no other TIU will work!
• Make certain that no other engines of any kind are powered on.
• Put power to the engine.
• Press: Menu/System/Engine Setup/Recover Engine.

If the remote says "Engine Recovered", re-add the engine and verify that it operates OK. Then, recreate the lashup.

Hi Barry, thanks so much for your response.  I used the 3rd edition of your book and followed directions on pages 173 thru 175.  After your reading your responce I realized I had a TMCC on the same track.  After removing that engine off that track and powering down 7 of my 8 tracks, the engine recorded straight away.  The TMCC engine didn't even cross my mind.  Thanks so much for your response.

Your your DCS books and I have a three editions have helped my sanity a tremendous amount.  There is a pic of her as she turned on.
