This engine is such a basket case, I never should have bought it. What could be causing the labor and drift chuff when moving. I was just letting the engine run, I wasn't doing any of it. It happens regardless of cars or not and smoke or no smoke. The first thing I had to do when I got it was replace the timing tape, that have anything to do with it? Attached is some videos. I've tried all the resets and have loaded the original sound set multiple times and nothing has worked.

yes if you put the wrong tach tape the speeds will be off ,it is determined by the tach tape and flywheel size. mth sells the sticker for the flywheel or you can send the engine to an asc  tech and get it repaired! The tach  tape is  determined  by the flywheel size out diameter has to be correct in MM !  That's probably why your chuff's are sounding wrong! here is the tach tape mth part number!

My goodness, you don't need an ASC to put a new flywheel tape on!!!

Measure the flywheel and put the correct length tape on.  Count the stripes, the "standard" MTH flywheel tach looks for 24 stripes.  Each stripe more or less will affect the speed around 4%.  Less stripes will make it go faster, more stripes will make it go slower.  You can also get custom tape images for non-MTH upgrades, I have a complete set with instructions of how to normalize the speeds to the MTH scale MPH readings.

Clean your wheels and check pickup rollers for good continuity.  Clean with electronic lubricant that CRC sells.  Your light is flickering. So either you have a power issue or something going on with board.  I would clean motor also with motor cleaner.  If you have a high current draw on PV from the motor might cause some of your symptoms.  G

The light was the power not be up all the way. I threw a new tape on and we'll see what that does.
