Folks, I did some digging online and cannot find out how to change the light bulb in the MTH 30-9097 elevated switch tower. I recently purchased a used one and the light inside seems pretty dim. How do you get to it? And what kind of a bulb is it? Thanks in advance, Les Randler

Not sure Les but the bulb in the larger switch tower from MTH shows the upper bulb replacement is accomplished by popping off the roof carefully and disconnecting the wire connector to gain access to the bulb.
Thanks for your response. Yes, That's what I thought made sense. I did tug at the roof a bit and it doesn't seem very willing to "pop off". Might try that one more time but don't want to break it; I just got it. It was used. The light is just not very bright. I'm thinking the bulb is dim because of use and age.
This is the larger tower instruction sheet Les. It might help .
If you can use a small flashlight and look up through the windows of your tower ,maybe you can get some idea of what you might need to do. 🤔

What's the voltage at your elevated switch tower Les ?
Sorry to take so long to respond! To answer your question 6 - 7 volts AC. I was too lazy to put in a special circuit for the lighting on my layout. All of the lights are wired into the track. Since I usually run my trains between 6 and 7 volts, that's what the lights get. I finally got the proper bulbs at Drauds' Derailment in Lebanon, PA. (If you are ever in the area; you have got to visit this store. A tremendous volume of trains and Mr. Draud is the nicest guy in the world!) The bulbs are meant for up to 14 volts. So that explains why the light in the switch tower seems dim. Not enough voltage. The roof does come off the switch tower. See my attached photo. Takes a bit of wiggling to get it off because of the diagonal position of the mounting circles. The light socket does not move. The proper bulb is shown to the right of the roof.
