Just got a nice looking but used MTH 384E with PS-2. Model 10-1222-1 from 2004. Conventional works well. In command it starts well, but it slowly accelerates to runaway speed. This is with the remote speed at 2. I have checked the tach strip wheel and it is tight and the alignment of the tach reader is well centered over the wheel. Any other suggestions before I contact the seller.

I would try a conventional reset you shout hear 2 whistle toots if it resets, if that does not fix it I would suspect a teach reader bad board or ps 2 ic has failed on ps 2 board microprocessor board or power supply board.do the sounds .last for 5 to 8 seconds if not your battery is dead and can cause problems also like not remembering it,s id for remote!

Replace the tape, recheck that flywheel not loose, clean tach reader with alcohol. If that does not work, replace reader. Sounds like it misses counts at higher speeds so it thinks it is going to slow and continues to ramp up voltage to motor. Also check wires for good continuity. G

even though I'm not a repairman I would agree with GGG I had sent my engine back to MTH and I think they replaced both the tape on the wheel and the reader as the reader was not picking up what it was supposed to

Other priorities so this is on the back burner, but I just ordered a new 3V BCR. It will be here when I get back from Pittsburgh so I can get a fresh start.
