Thank you guys in advance for your expertise...

I have a MTH 4-6-2 Torpedo than I upgraded to PS 2.0 a number of years ago. I didn't see anything happen to it, I think the smoke Genie is still in the components... but has decided to do nothing in terms of startup except for a rhythmic click-click of the relay. Where to start on this? It would be great to run this problem down to something workable. I know this engine isn't worth very much, but the N&W passenger consist that I built up with it is considerable... lots of LED upgrades etc. So, rather than throwing in the towel and upgrading to PS 3, would like to see if there is a diagnostic procedure that you may suggest. In all of the years that I have had MTH engines, I have never been able to find any kind of schematics or voltage specs outside of rudimentary block and B&W wiring diagrams. Again... thanks for your input.

Matt,

If you’re operating conventionally and the engine starts up but won’t move, odds are that the engione’s battery needs Ro be charged or replaced.

Thanks Barry,

No, in DCS mode. It does not start up. Nothing but rhythmic click-click....click-click....click-click of relay. But you got me thinking so I pulled the battery and it reads solid voltage and the charge line shows charge voltage. BUT... when I pulled the battery, the engine's headlight came on and the smoke heating element lit up. It still is not being recognized by DCS, therefore no opportunity to "start" it. Interestingly enough, when checking the charge line port on the bottom of the tender, my fat VOM probes shorted the charge line plug and the light went out and it started its clicking syndrome again.

I'm baffled.
