Update-

I spoke to the sales dept at MTH today. They said the sets have already shipped from the manufacturer, and they are due to hit their dock on 11/01/2015. So, I would expect to see the set in within a week or two depending on shipping times to Dealers and then to customers.

They said there were only so many made on the 2nd go around. It was up to the dealers to order what they wanted. The last time I looked at Pat's Trains, he had 2 sets left at $349.99 ea. so, check with him. He may have a set left. Good luck everyone.

Allan, I think there is plenty of reason to be angry.  If you followed the situation on this Halloween loco, there was no "pre-order" or anyone who "took the gamble that there would be some left over."  MTH made 75 units available.  They were publicized only via a Sept. 30 MTH e-mail blast & a video posted on its Facebook page.  Poof!   Gone within 24 hours.   MTH made more enemies than friends with this one.

The 75 units made are all spoken for Jim.  (And apparently even they won't be in the hands of the fortunate buyers until NOVEMBER.)  If you order from here on out, you won't see your unit in mid-to-late 2016.

He seems like a very approachable individual.  I spoke with him for about 15 minutes last spring at TCA.

At first, I posted my comments because I found it interesting that people were really upset about this set.  However; I see some valid points in regards to last-minute notice they received.  I've heard the dealers were not in the loop as well.   The small number of sets does not bother me.  I'd be really upset if I ordered a Halloween set that came in November.

The MTH newsletter announcement on September 30th stated "M.T.H. Electric Trains is releasing an all-new RailKing Halloween Diesel Set next month, just in time for the Halloween season."

I ordered it based on the announcement which clearly implies that it will be available in time to run on this year's Halloween layout.  Very disappointing to now find out it will not be in dealers' hands until after an estimated November 1st arrival in Columbia.

In almost every aspect, the announcement and release of this set has been horribly managed.

Good, I will have to keep the wife out of the garage for a bit longer. Ya pumpkin train is coming soon! and a 0-6-0 I ordered a bit ago, seems like 10,000 BC on that one and the new E44 Christmas set,  and a NS SD70ACe. all coming this week.  I will be good for till at least Christmas.

I'm not a 3-rail modeller and have never seen a 3 rail layout in person.

When I read this thread through I thought what a bunch of spoilt people carrying on about one train set.

Then the penny dropped, I had a close look at myself and thought, c'mon Nev, your the same when someone snipes you at the last minute on those auctions you throw a tantrum especially if it's something you have really waited for.

To be honest it's healthy to get upset, sometimes even when it's not life threatening or your family are not in danger.

My opinion nothing personal.
