Hi Everyone,

I have purchased an MTH EF-3b New Haven Photo 3.0 and unlocked both pantographs. Both pantographs go up or down at the same time when direction is changed. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get the pantographs to operate opposite each other (up and down correctly with the rear pantograph up going forward)? Many thanks for your assistance.

IF YOU HAVE THE DCS REMOTE:  On the soft keys of the remote there is a “Pantograp menu.”  (The “h” was left off because it would be too many characters.)   You may have to scroll though the soft keys, or even hit “more” to find it.

On that menu you can control which pantographs are up or down, whether you have automatic operation (which is what you are looking for) or manual operation.  I doubt this is your problem because you did the factory reset, but you might want to change the settings in that menu. You also might try to do the factory reset afterwards.

You also might want to turn the power off, and pull it off the track for several hours.  I have quite a few MTH electrics, and sometimes the pantographs get VERY confused.  A long power off wait has always solved the problem.

You should also be aware that most MTH electrics have a separate pantograph control board. And there are two varieties. You will have to do a product search.

Hi John and everyone,

I have tried all of John's suggestions and I cannot find the pantograph menu in my DCS remote. I used all the soft keys and clicked the "more" key and scrolled to each item. I cannot find the pantograph menu. There does not seem to be a pantograph on/off switch anywhere on the loco. On the top, the panel does not come off and nothing on the bottom. I have tried a "Factory" as well as "Feature" reset several times. I have also left the loco unpowered overnight. The problem persists. Is it possible my remote has not been updated to the latest operating system? It has not been updated in a very long time.
