I just picked up the new MTH Amtrak Genesis in Phase V paint and noticed something different with the smoke system. See the photo. My other diesels have a plastic funnel to make sure the smoke fluid makes it into the right place. This new loco just has the metal hole that you better have good aim to avoid problems. Anyone else notice this? Is this a new design?

Looks like you're missing a part. I can't imagine they didn't seal the smoke or fluid from going inside the shell.
Thanks John. I'll listen to hear if the part is loose in the loco and check my #99 for this missing part too.
Pretty hard to believe they didn't design a funnel in there, it would be a first.
I have a RK engine that I took the body off to grease the gears and when I put it back together the funnel slipped inside. One of these days I will take it apart to correct this issue before I run it again.
I have the new premier genesis, it has a funnel in there
Thanks Clem! Looks like its repair time.
