Inherited this engine from a friend's estate and have had some experience bringing MTH trolleys back to life with a new battery and reset procedure. Put a fresh nine volt battery in, engine starts, engine sounds can be heard but engine does not move. Have tried the reset procedure in the manual but it is a little vague and I cannot get it to move. Any advice would be appreciated.

The 9 volt battery has to be an exact replacement for the batteries that MTH uses.
You might need to charge the battery while the SD45 or FP45 sit on the tracks in neutral for 30 to 60 minutes with the power at 10 to 18 volts from the transformer.

Will give that a try. Thanks.
Have replaced the battery with a good nine volt conventional battery for testing purposes, charged for one hour but no luck so far.
You may need to use the reset chip. MTH sold those some time ago (they kit came with a battery). Once you use that, it resets the board. Service centers usually had them.
Will look into that. Thanks.
