Is there any difference from this one than the one coming out in Oct 2012 that is on new MTH catalog?

Under DCS you can have each pantograph operate independently as directed from the remote or automatically based on engine direction. Conventionally, or under DCS, you can manually lock both pantographs in the down position.

I ordered one from Justrains, but haven't received yet.  Does it look oversized next to 1:48 stuff?

I just spoke with a dealer where Im thinking about getting one. He only has the scale version. He states that it will be fine for my layout. But will this work on my layout? I have atlas track O03, O45 & O54. Will it work on those curves? I also have hi speed switch along with O54 & O36 swithes.

I got my ALP 46 and it is once great looking train. I decide to hook up an MTH subway R17 to it. Not bad if I do say so myself. Check out the vid.
