We received our GG-1 back today from MTH for a warranty repair of a bad pantograph motor.  We added the train to the DCS remote and ran the engine about halfway around the layout.  Then, pop and the engine shut down.  We shut everything down and did not see any breakers popped.  Tried to re-start the train.  Heard the click but received an engine not on track.  The train will not start in DCS or conventional mode.

We just got this back from MTH after 6 weeks.  My fear is it's going back again.  I did try a new battery... no dice.

Any other ideas?

Ron

It may be the circuit board. I have the New Haven EP3 with operating pantographs and one of mine stopped working. I took it apart and tested the motor with a battery and it worked so I assumed it is the board,

A tidbit: did you know the motor on the pantograph is the exact same motor that is on those little battery operated screw drivers that everyone bought at Lowe's?

Ron,

Try running it in conventional mode. If it does, I suggest a Recover Engine using DCS 4.10 or 4.20:

Menu/System/Engine Setup/Recover Engine

Make sure that the TIU you're using is #1 and that there are no other engines powered up on tracks connected to the TIU. Best would be to use a short section of track on Fixed #1 Out.
