I was using a MTH PCC proto 1 around the Christmas tree, the pantograph was up and when train went around tree it hit a branch and derailed. When I put trolley back on track it wouldn't operate correctly. I thought maybe the track had problem, then took shell off to see if the was a wire off and no. I am using a z500 pack with a L/R remote. What trolley does when starting I get a couple of bell rings. I turn the throttle up and the horn and bell just rings. If I hit direction or emergency stop it makes trlley move a little and thats it. I took trolley back to my home to operate and no problems occur. Does anyone have any ideas?

My PCC had a issue this year too.  The rear truck "Elevated Ground Mount" bung broke off of the truck.  It looked like was connected because the wire was not broke, but the mount had sheered off at the base.  Thus, in the turns it would randomly stop or otherwise act funny.  I struggled with this for 2 seasons before finding it this year.

You may want to see if the trolley will power with just the front and then just the rear truck on the track.  That is how I realized that something more was wrong with mine.  I held the engine so only one truck at a time was on the track, which also allowed for me to wiggle it to find a loose connection.

To fix it my issue, I just ground off the rest of of the ground wire mounting bung, drilled a hole for the wire, soldered a highly flexible wire to the truck, then, soldered it to the ground wire.  So far so good.

My PCC is a PS2 Washington DC Trolley.

Good luck with yours.
