Here is a first look at my new EJ&E MTH Premier Transfer Diesel. Received it today. After a quick look it appears that it made it through the shipping process with no damage (always a good start). I will add a more extensive review, pictures and video to this thread Wednesday or Thursday. So far I am very pleased.

Here are my first look / unboxing pictures. My siberian husky Comet is always around to help me.

A great looking center cab diesel and I love the dog. MTH model is of a Lima transfer unit of which only the Pennsy owned. The EJ&E transfer diesels were Baldwins. See photo attached. It is too bad MTH didn't model the Baldwin unit as many roads owned them and some roads had more than one paint job. Pennsy also owned Baldwin center cab transfer diesels.

Here's a case where my ignorance is bliss. I don't know a Lima from a Baldwin but I know that this will look good with my EJ&E ABA Sharknose and 18 or so EJ&E boxcars plus the EJ&E coil cars. Also have some non-prototypical EJ&E decorated Ore cars and a 70" vista dome passenger car painted in EJ&E Green/orange. Wish MTH would make an EJ&E bobber caboose, tanker, etc. fantasy or not.   Joe

Better late than never, here is a video.

Very happy with these. Only problem out of the box is that one of the pickup rollers was slightly twisted. I just bent it back and it is working fine now. There is a clicking noise coming from the dummy unit but I have not figured out how to fix that yet. I think the sound may be coming from the same pickup roller.

I lived "down the street" as a kid from the real thing and yes, they were Baldwins and not Lima ..with that distinctive burbling sound..Although Baldwin and Lima merged..I am too lazy to get my reference book down..They looked as if they could pull a battleship as your model does as well. I must say as a Baldwin diesel fan, any model of a Baldwin is better than none and yours especially in an EJE scheme is a keeper. Thanks for sharing it. Who knows? maybe we will get the Sharknose in the same appropriate scheme..as they ran them as well.
